Information Pollution and what you can do about it.

With the explosion of the Internet we have achieved so many great stuff but also have created many problems for ourselves. The amount of information we have to go through 24/7 is unbelievable. This is making it impossible for everyone to find what is truly important. So as we are becoming more conscious about our planet and our health I believe it’s important to start doing the same for the information we put out in the world. So what can we do about it?

Social Media Cleansing

If you go through my Instagram you will find not many posts. Granted I don’t post everyday but I still delete posts that I find are irrelevant or unhelpful. I do the same thing with my blog. This isn’t because I am embarrassed about past posts but because I want to create a platform easy to navigate that includes helpful information. Keep in mind this is not about quantity. There is no perfect number of posts. You can have 5 or 5.000 and that’s ok. Just make sure that you are proud for each and every one of those posts and that you want people to see them.

Go on a unfollow spree

Ok this sounds kind of mean but think about how much time you spend on social media. Do you really want to waste your time on things that don’t inspire you, don’t help you or even worse make you feel worse?

Don’t follow back

When someone follows you and shows interest in your content you should try checking out their content too. And if you find that it interests you go ahead and follow them back. But if not skip. I for once wouldn’t want someone to follow me because I followed them. I would much rather have people follow me because they genuinely like my content.

Be mindful

Think before you hit the post button. Don’t spam and always be confident in what you put out.

I hope I don’t offend anyone by this post and again this isn’t about numbers. You are the only person that decides what you want to post. I just hope that this post can raise some awareness about a problem that we don’t realize we are facing.

  1. Some really good points – I think I need a little media cleanse myself! It’s certainly becoming a problem with the whole 24/7 connectedness, pressures to reply/follow/like, and the plethora of information we’re constantly exposed to; we need to be more selective I think sometimes. Great post! 🙂

  2. *So* needed these days. I use “newsfeed eradicator” for Facebook, only have Instagram when I’m uploading something, and don’t have any apps on my phone. Still doesn’t stop me from Twitter-in, but hey 🤷🏽‍♂️
