Project Empties

I’m not the person to go crazy on the minimalistic lifestyle. I’m really envious of the people who can do that but I’m not one of them. That being said I would love to minimize my possessions and subsequently ways in a reasonable way. What I found the best and easiest ways to start is by using all of my products before I buy new ones. Even if I don’t love them I have challenged myself to use them up before going out and buying new ones. This way not only I save money but it is also an incentive to make smarter choices when buying products. I’ve started with my skincare products and hopefully my makeup.

Do you have any tips about how to reasonably minimize your belongings? Let me know in the comments below!

Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Magic Cream – Review

What is it?
Charlotte’s magic cream is a daily face moisturizer with SPF 15 and UVA protection.

What does it do?

The cream contains Unique ‘multi-tasking’ anti-age BioNymph Peptide Complex that stimulates collagen production. It features hyaluronic acid and wild pansy extracts that seal-in moisture. Rosehip and camellia oils and antioxidant vitamin E transforms dull complexions so you can get hydrated, youthful, glowing skin. Plus it’s paraben-free.

The packaging.

As I have said many times Charlotte Tilbury’s packaging is gorgeous and totally matches my aesthetic. The box is really unique. You pull apart the two sides to reveal ” The magic dew of youth and luminosity in jar.”

It has a clear body while the lid is in the classic Charlotte Tilbury reddish brown and coppery rose gold.

The formula.

For this particular product the formula is a game changer. I have tried many face creams and although all of them gave me enough moisture Charlotte’s magic cream is the only one that helped a lot with the dry patches on my nose and chin. It feels thick and luxurious and is not greasy.

Would I recommend it?

Yes! For someone who has trouble with dry skin and is on the lookout for a great day cream. ( And is bored to first put on moisturizer and then sunscreen. Nobody has time for that!) I understand it is pricey but I honestly believe it’s worth the extra bucks. Plus from my point of view skincare is the most important part of our routines and if I am going to invest in a product it will be a skincare one.

What are your favorite Charlotte Tilbury products? Let me know in the comments below!

3 Simple Tips to Remove Makeup at the End of the Day

Hello, lovely readers!

If you want to wake up with fresh, glowing skin each day, removing your makeup is essential. You’re doing your skin a favour by removing makeup each day. Here are a few tips I like to use when I do not have my favourite makeup remover on hand.

1. Take advantage of steam

Fill your sink with hot water and let your face hover above it for 1-2 minutes. The steam will open your pores and make it easier for cleanser to absorb into the skin.2. Try an oil-based makeup remover to remove lipstick Long-wearing liquid lipsticks can be stubborn to remove. Soak a cotton pad in an oil-based makeup remover to dissolve your lipstick. 3. Make your own formulaI recently made my own balm to remove makeup. It combines oil and beeswax to gently remove my makeup. To create this formula, I combine 1/4 cup of olive oil and a tablespoon of beeswax. I melt the beeswax into the oil, allow it to harden then pour it into a container.

3 Easy Ways to Blog More Consistently

Hello, beautiful readers!

How long has it been since you hit ‘Publish’ on a new post? Life is busy, and your blogging habits can slip aside. If you’re thinking of reinventing your blog schedule or habits, check out these tips to help you get started:

1. Decide on a realistic publishing schedule

Some bloggers post daily, others post 2-3 times per week. Find a schedule that suits you, and keep in mind that you shouldn’t feel pressured to post each day. What matters is sticking to the schedule you set, and posting consistently based on that schedule.

2. Dedicate set times to work on your blog

Routines make life easier. Establishing a routine is a great way to build good habits and increase your efficiency. Setting up a dedicated time to write new content will increase your consistency. For example, you could dedicate a few hours each Saturday to blog, or write a new post each day on your lunch break.

3. Reward yourself for your consistency

Accomplishing a task feels great! Rewards act as a motivator, so plan a reward for yourself once you write a post. It’s not only more motivating to get work done, but integrating a reward makes it satisfying.

3 Creative Ways to Add Colour Into Your Makeup Routine

Hello, beautiful readers!

Fall is in full-swing, and many of the colour palettes you see in clothing and makeup tend to revolve around darker hues. Colours like burgundy, grey, black, and burnt orange are common. Just because these fall colours are popular doesn’t mean you can’t sneak bright, summery colours into your makeup routine!

1. Rock a bold lip

A bold lipstick colour instantly polishes your makeup look. Deep reds, purples, and even metallic silver are shades I’ve seen everywhere this season. A highly pigmented, bright lip colour is one creative outlet for showcasing your favourite shades. My personal favourite bright lip colours are:

  • Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in K-Dub: This shade is a bold, bright fuchsia
  • M.A.C. Cosmetics Lipstick in Diva – A deep burgundy
  • Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Cotton Candy – An electric blue-violet

2. Start with your nails

Nail polish is the easiest way to add colour to your makeup routine. It is a lot easier to let loose with a bright nail polish if you find bright lipstick shades daunting. Because your hands are otherwise makeup-free, you don’t have to worry that your nail polish colour is going overboard.

3. Vibrant cheeks

Many new highlight palettes feature bright, bold colours. Swipe a metallic blue, purple, or pink highlight onto your cheekbones to add a pop of colour to your makeup. If you wish to incorporate the colour into other areas of your face, a metallic highlight is also perfect as eyeshadow. (I’ve also used it as lipstick on occasion, and it works quite well!)

4 Time-Saving Beauty Hacks Every Girl Should Know

Hello, beautiful readers!

How many of you spend a lot of time and energy getting ready each morning? With a few simple tricks, it is easy to minimize the time and effort it takes to complete your morning routine each day.

1. Make your eyeliner symmetrical every time by marking the end of the line with a dot

Once you figure out where you want the dot, draw a small line from the dot inward to to connect it to the liner at your lash line. This trick ensures your liner is crisp and straight every time. Alternatively, you can place a piece of tape along the desired line and trace your liner along it.

2. Mix together foundation and moisturizer

This tip combines the steps of applying moisturizer and foundation into one. This also helps you adjust the foundation tint to your skin. The moisturizer will also add extra moisture to the foundation, giving your skin a dewy finish.

3. Use baby powder in your hair to absorb excess oil

No time to shower in the morning? Adding a small amount of baby powder to your roots and combing it through your ends absorbs excess oil from your scalp. I use this trick often when I sleep past my alarm.

4. Combine eyeliner and mascara

I use this tip often when I do not have eyeliner nearby. I substitute it with mascara instead. Dip a thin brush into your mascara tube and apply along your top lash line. This creates the effect of eyeliner.

How to Transition Your Beauty Routine into the Fall Season

Hello, beautiful readers!

I adapt my beauty routine at the beginning of each season. Fall means cooler weather, drier skin and a loss of moisture. I change the type of products I use and my routine to combat these effects.

Products to Switch

1. Your Foundation

Your skintone often adapts to the weather. It may transition to a lighter shade once a summer tan fades. I often switch to a foundation with full coverage to conceal the effects of fall weather. If you still wish to use a lighter coverage foundation, try mixing a tinted moisturizer into your favourite shade for richer colour.

2. Your Overall Colour Palette

A good rule of thumb for any season: Focus colour in one area. I favour a darker colour palette in the fall. I incorporate the palette into my makeup routine by punching up my lipstick with deep burgundy, red and dark pink colours.

Areas to Increase Hydration

Cooler temperatures are drying for hair, skin, and lips. These areas may require a little extra hydration in the fall.

1. Your Lips

The lips are one of the first areas of the body to show dehydration. Exfoliate the lips 1-2 times per week to maintain their natural moisture. Exfoliation allows lip balm to penetrate deeper into the lip surface.

2. Your Hair

If you’re like me, the use of your heated styling tools increases in the fall. Applying heat to hair strips it of natural oils. To keep strands hydrated, add shampoos and conditioners that boost hydration into your daily routine.

Why I won’t follow you back!

As all bloggers propably do, I love getting comments and likes on my posts. I love interacting with people and I love creating content that is helpful, inspiring and fun. Getting a nice comment is a reassurance that the effort I put into my blog doesn’t go unnoticed. Thing is a lot of the comments I get consist of the phrase “I follow back.” Problem is I do not want people to follow my blog because I commented, liked or followed them. I did that with all my sincerity without expecting something in return. But other than that I get devastated because now every like or comment I see I think did they really mean it or is this an effort so that I will follow them? And this takes away from my success. Every follower is immensely important for me as long as they are sincere. So please, I would love to chat but don’t ever expect a follow back from me. I will only follow you because I love your content. So you can be sure you have a true follower in me. Love you guys.

How I Grew My Small Blog in 3 Months

Hello, everyone. My name is Mercy from the blog Mercyish. My blog revolves around budget beauty, positivity and all things pretty and you can read my blog roundup to see some of my best work! Of course, I’d like to thank Naya for inviting me to guest write on this blog and I hope her readers enjoy my post.

Today I would like to share how I grew my small blog in the first 3 months. I started my blog in mid September 2016 and by December 2016 I had 500 readers with average 3,000 views per month. Even though it doesn’t sound much, for a nobody blogger like me, it’s a huge start. This is how I did it:

1. Focus on writing useful content that attract my target readers, which are young women interested in budget beauty products as well as young new bloggers like myself. This way, my blog is streamlined into specific topics and new readers will know what to expect out of my future posts.

2. Engage with current readers and make friends with new ones. In order to actually gain readership, engagement is a very crucial step. I realise that the more I interact with my readers, the more they come back for new posts. Plus, there’s nothing wrong with making new friends. Now my blogger friends and I are all friends on my Instagram too, which is always a great plus!

3. Create a page that makes readers actually want to stay longer and read more. I invested a lot of my time on designing my blog to suit my theme and to attract readers. Most of my readers have mentioned that they like my blog because of how visually exciting it is. I have written a post on how I designed my blog in 5 easy steps and it really doesn’t cost any money. I use a free WordPress template and it works just fine, so don’t worry about spending too much money on your blog!

4. Be discipline with organising my blog posts and ideas. It is very easy to cram all my ideas into consecutive blog posts when I think that it will attract readers. In reality, once that train of inspiration passes by, my readers don’t come back. Instead, I try to stick to a schedule and plan out what and when to post for the next few weeks. As a new blogger, I didn’t understand what kind of planner works for me and after a few months, I finally figured it out and designed my own blog organiser based on my experience as a new blogger. I am currently giving out this free printable blog organiser that hopefully can be useful for all of you and improve your blogging life.

To receive this super cute and of course free blog organiser, you can go to my blog Mercyish and click on the free blog organiser banner on the side bar. It is very easy to use, there are instructions inside and most importantly, cute stationary always motivates me so I designed it super duper cute for everyone to use.

Once again, I’m really glad that I can write here and share my experience as a new blogger. Looking forward to writing more and sharing more experience with Naya’s Fairytale readers here. Xoxo, Mercy.
