4 Time-Saving Beauty Hacks Every Girl Should Know

Hello, beautiful readers!

How many of you spend a lot of time and energy getting ready each morning? With a few simple tricks, it is easy to minimize the time and effort it takes to complete your morning routine each day.

1. Make your eyeliner symmetrical every time by marking the end of the line with a dot

Once you figure out where you want the dot, draw a small line from the dot inward to to connect it to the liner at your lash line. This trick ensures your liner is crisp and straight every time. Alternatively, you can place a piece of tape along the desired line and trace your liner along it.

2. Mix together foundation and moisturizer

This tip combines the steps of applying moisturizer and foundation into one. This also helps you adjust the foundation tint to your skin. The moisturizer will also add extra moisture to the foundation, giving your skin a dewy finish.

3. Use baby powder in your hair to absorb excess oil

No time to shower in the morning? Adding a small amount of baby powder to your roots and combing it through your ends absorbs excess oil from your scalp. I use this trick often when I sleep past my alarm.

4. Combine eyeliner and mascara

I use this tip often when I do not have eyeliner nearby. I substitute it with mascara instead. Dip a thin brush into your mascara tube and apply along your top lash line. This creates the effect of eyeliner.

What’s in my summer makeup bag?

Today I’m sitting on the beach and I thought I would let you know what kind of makeup I decided to pack. During hot summer days between the beach and long walks there is no point in wearing makeup. The only time I actually bother is during our night strolls and even then I go for something simple and quick.

So here is what makeup I packed for seven days in Naxos, Greece.

As far as foundation is concerned I skipped it entirely and just got a BB cream. Because BB creams tend to have lighter coverage I also packed a concealer for under the eyes as well as added coverage.

For blush I packed the Estée Lauder signature blush in 19 Nude Nuance. I use the lighter shade as blush and the darker as a bronzer. (Rule breaker)

For the eyes I went with just a sample mascara from Dior. ( Well I also brought an eyeliner but never really used.)

At this time I’m all about highlighters so I obviously didn’t forget to pack one!

Because until this point my makeup was pretty simple I chose two lipsticks to get a more dramatic look.    A brownish nude from YSL in rouge pur couture no 66 and a classic, summery red no 35.

What makeup item do you always pack? Let me know in the comments below.

Leaving your pet back home?

Recently I went on a 5-day vacation leaving my sweet dog at home with my grandmother. It was a difficult experience to say the least. She was obviously really sad and uncomfortable and I hated to see her like that but there are ways to make parting easier.

  • Vacation Mock-Up

If you have the chance you can leave your pet with a friend for a couple of days. Leaving your pet for a short amount of time is going to let them know that even if you leave you will eventually come back. If you don’t have that chance you can have them in another part of the house or even the balcony (if the weather permits it and it is safe ) so they don’t see you. You should have a friend feed and walk them so that they don’t see you. Generally the days leading up to your trip leave them alone as long as possible so that they will get used to your absence.

  • Tire them out

The day prior to the trip play with them, take them out, run and do fun stuff together. If they are tired they are less likely to complain.

  • Ignore them

Five to six hours before you have to leave be in the same space with your pet but do not engage. If you are not playing they are less likely to get sad that you left.

  • Give them your smell

A lot of pets, and especially dogs recognize and engage with people based on their smell. If you give them something of low value that smells like you they will feel comforted and more at ease.

  • Live them with someone you trust

The best way to feel ok leaving your little one behind is knowing that someone is giving them the best care as possible.

What do you do when you have to leave your pets? Let me know in the comments below!

How to Transition Your Beauty Routine into the Fall Season

Hello, beautiful readers!

I adapt my beauty routine at the beginning of each season. Fall means cooler weather, drier skin and a loss of moisture. I change the type of products I use and my routine to combat these effects.

Products to Switch

1. Your Foundation

Your skintone often adapts to the weather. It may transition to a lighter shade once a summer tan fades. I often switch to a foundation with full coverage to conceal the effects of fall weather. If you still wish to use a lighter coverage foundation, try mixing a tinted moisturizer into your favourite shade for richer colour.

2. Your Overall Colour Palette

A good rule of thumb for any season: Focus colour in one area. I favour a darker colour palette in the fall. I incorporate the palette into my makeup routine by punching up my lipstick with deep burgundy, red and dark pink colours.

Areas to Increase Hydration

Cooler temperatures are drying for hair, skin, and lips. These areas may require a little extra hydration in the fall.

1. Your Lips

The lips are one of the first areas of the body to show dehydration. Exfoliate the lips 1-2 times per week to maintain their natural moisture. Exfoliation allows lip balm to penetrate deeper into the lip surface.

2. Your Hair

If you’re like me, the use of your heated styling tools increases in the fall. Applying heat to hair strips it of natural oils. To keep strands hydrated, add shampoos and conditioners that boost hydration into your daily routine.

Appreciating the little things in life

Hey everyone!

Well, where do I start on this one – this is actually quite a difficult subject to put into words, but I’m gonna try my best and for some reason I just keep feeling that this should be something that I share with you guys.

Appreciating the little things isn’t always that easy. We all dream of having these big, luxurious houses and cars. To travel the world and live in the most expensive hotels. Marrying the perfect partner and having loads of money and wearing expensive brand names only.

.This is so beautiful...and so true. Miracles happen everyday...and all around us.!! We just have to stop, look, and take notice.!!

Well have you ever stopped in the middle of your dream and just noticed who and what is around you? Really noticing who is around you and the things they do for you. Or just noticing the pretty different shades of colour from a flower. Seeing how happy your dog or cat gets when he/she sees you and how he/she actually smiles at you. The cute little note your significant other has left you that has the simple words “I love you” on it.

When you notice these things and realize how special they really are, you will feel your body fill with happiness and gratitude. How does the saying go – “The little things in life are in fact not little.” – because even though it might be the simplest, teenie tiniest of things, it makes us whole. And that is big and wonderful.

Laura Wright (@welcometolaurasworld) on Instagram: “Sounds perfect to me :)) Happy Saturday night!! #grateful #lifeisbeautiful #itsuptoyou #crazy❤️”

Of course there’s nothing wrong with having lots of money and living the lux life, but sometimes we tend to go through life with eye caps on. Even if you’re the poorest man on earth, there’s always something that will make you smile. Even if you’re the richest man on earth, there’s always something that will make you smile. You just have to find it yourself. You have to find that content and calm feeling you get when someone brings you a coffee or sends you a short text or just do’s something for you that’s of the littlest of efforts, but that you know that person does it from their heart.

We go through life always being in a rush, that the little things goes unnoticed. We’re afraid that we’ll miss out on that lux life we’re always dreaming of, that we forget to just sit back and breathe and look around us.

I believe that if more of us noticed these small things and appreciate and cherish them, we would all be a lot happier. Like genuinely happy.

It is sometimes difficult to just stand back a little and just notice. But doing this would make you so much more grateful and appreciative of the things you have in life.

Learn to appreciate the little things 🙂 because they aren’t all that little.

I hope you guys understand the message I’m trying to bring out in this post, it’s quite simple, but still tricky.

A College Student’s Guide To Good Grades

Hello amazing readers!

My name is Katie, and I’m a lifestyle blogger at klementinekatie.com. I will be occasionally posting on this awesome blog to share with you some of the best life tips I have! With the school year approaching I will be talking about the best ways to get good grades. College is such a busy time in your life with so many changes to adjust to, so sometimes keeping up with your grades can be a challenge. I hope these tips give you some good ideas and help you succeed!

Set goals for yourself

This is the first thing I do at the beginning of every term. I set school and personal goals for myself that I want to achieve throughout the term. Once you know what you want to accomplish hang the list somewhere that you can see it everyday so that you are always reminded of what you need to focus your time and energy on.

Write due dates at beginning of term

Take time to read through your syllabus for each class, find important due dates, and write them all down. By having all big dates written in your planner at the beginning of the term you will be able to see when assignments and tests are coming up and you will be able to plan ahead for them.

Use a planner

Utilizing a planner is one of the most important things you can do in order to stay on top of your school work and personal life.

Write to do lists

To do lists help keep you on track and help make sure you are getting everything done that you need to. I make one everyday, and since I started doing this I notice I am way more productive throughout the day!

Make a friend in the class and get their number or email

This is very helpful if you don’t know anyone in the class you are in. Strike up conversation with the people around you and get their contact information because you never know when you may get sick or something else pops up and you’ll miss a day of notes. It’s so helpful to have someone to reach out to that can help catch you up.

Collect your professor’s email, office hours, and office location

This information can always be found on your professors syllabus, but I have found it to be super helpful to have a list of all your classes along with the professors name, email, office hours, and office location so that if you have a question or need to get help with something fast all the information you need is in one place.

Visit office hours

Creating a relationship with your professors is very important if you want to get good grades. Professors love to know who you are and see that you are putting effort in to the class. Creating a relationship with professors also opens the door for you to have someone that would write you a letter of recommendation!

Read the syllabus

In college, this is the number one most important thing you can do at the beginning of a term. Many teachers won’t even respond to an email if you ask them a question that can be found on the syllabus. All professors have slightly different grading, policies, and requests and you can usually find all the information you will need in order to be successful in the class. I like to save each syllabus on my computer desktop so they are easily accessible when I am doing homework online.

Get your homework done early

If I struggle with one tip the most, this is it. This is one of the hardest tips to follow but it is one of the most beneficial. Getting your homework done early will save you tons of stress, late nights, and missing out on fun events. When you get your homework done early you will have so much more time to do fun things without having to stress about assignments.

Read over notes after class

If you read over your notes after you take them it will help the material stick in your head since you are rehearsing it. If you can’t read over them right after class try to spend at least one hour a day re-reading your notes from your classes.

Write your notes instead of typing

This was a hard tip for me to convert to since I am a perfectionist and love how neat and organized my notes looked when they were typed, but it is psychologically proven that you will remember things better if you write them down. You use a different part of your brain when you are listening and writing versus when you are listening and typing, and typing doesn’t process as well into your long term memory.

Always do your readings

Read, read, read. Many professors love to throw questions on their tests that come from the assigned readings and without doing the readings you will have no idea what it is talking about. I’ve learned this one the hard way. It’s easiest if you stay caught up with your readings because once you fall behind it’s almost impossible to catch back up.

Study

This one is obvious. You have to study the class material to be able to test well on it. Cramming does’t work because your brain physically can’t remember that much information at one time. It is best if you start studying for a test days before and do it little by little.

By following these tips you should be on your way to all A’s!
Please share in the comments any tips you have that help you get good grades!

Confidence

Being twenty and basically a girl the thing that I have struggled through many years is being confident. Confidence is a really complicated subject. There are many variables you have to take into consideration…

I have met many types of girls chubby, thin, tall, short, long haired, short haired generally different than me. To my eyes they were ALL gorgeous inside and out. So the first thing that pops up on my mind when I come across such a beautiful person is what the hell went so wrong with me. So I took a step back and cleared my head. And that is when I realized that it isn’t about how tall or how curvy you are. It is about how you carry yourself and what you think about you. Because if you choose to see things differently and start to love the things that make you YOU then other people will start to love them. Trust me on this. If you come off as a person that hasn’t the ability to do anything, if you are conviced that you are useless then people will have that opinion about you. Being able to say that I love my body or my hair or who I am is the HARDEST thing that we all have to achieve. It does seem IMPOSSIBLE at times. It took me years to be able to say that I will fight for things because I deserve them. I used to think that I wasn’t good enough to be happy so I stopped trying to. And you know what happened?? Everything in my life went wrong. I felt so unworthy, I cried all day and didn’t do anything fun. But now I have realized that all those horrible things that happened to me and all the other GOOD things that I’ve missed out because I was scared were MY choice. And then I started to do things. I started to take care of myself more, I started talking to people. I started TRYING to do better. And oddly enough I did. I am better now. And although I am not the girl I dream to be I am closer to being her. So take this advice from me: if you don’t like something about your life do something to change it

How to Maintain a Daily Skincare Routine

Hello, beautiful readers!

Finding a skincare routine that works for you can seem challenging. Underlying most daily routines are 5 basic steps. I use each step in my daily routine, and adapt it based on my sensitive, acne-prone skin.

Step 1 – Cleanse

Cleansing the skin removes excess dirt and oil. These components contribute to breakouts. Cleansing the skin both morning and night keeps your pores clear. I cleanse in the morning with a gentle exfoliator. I remove makeup and cleanse at night with a makeup-remover from Clinique.

Step 2 – Toner

Toner removes any leftover residue after cleansing. Using toner gives the skin an extra cleansing effect. This minimizes the appearance of pores and preps your skin to absorb moisture. Toner is most effective when applied to damp skin.

Step 3 – Exfoliate

Exfoliating removes excess skin cells that build up on the skin’s surface. This step is crucial if you are experiencing acne or blackheads. You should exfoliate 1-3 times per week, depending on the specific needs of your skin.

Step 4 – Moisturize

This is a crucial step to keep the skin soft and supple. Moisturizing adds an extra layer of protection to skin. Choose a product best-suited for your skin type, then massage it into the skin using an upward motion. You should let the moisturizer sit to allow it to absorb into skin.

Step 5 – Apply sunscreen

The sun is damaging to the skin. Using a product containing SPF protects your skin from UV rays. You should apply a sunscreen with SPF 15 (or higher) to the skin to protect it.
