Five models that are not afraid to be different!

For a lot of years fashion had a pretty specific type that was considered “pretty”. Unfortunately that type was far from reality. Discrimination and false idea of beauty is still a huge problem for the fashion industry but we have taken huge steps to the right direction. So here are my five  favorite models!

  1. Iskra Lawrence   A stunning blonde that is not afraid to be goofy and kick the haters in the butt! Plus totally Instagram goals!
  2. Winnie Harlow   A gorgeous 21 year old that showed us beauty is everywhere. Even in a chronic skin condition!
  3. Rebekah Marine  A beautiful badass that needs to star in a sci-fi film ASAP! Can someone make it happen?
  4. Madeline Stuart   The cutest nineteen year old that puts the rest of us nineteen year olds to shame! ( Can sitting on my laptop be considered changing the world? No? Ok…)
  5. Philomena Kwao   Another stunning woman showing us that all sizes and colors are beautiful in their own unique way!

My blogging tips and tricks

I’m obviously not a professional blogger but I do believe that everyone has something to offer. So here are my best blogging tips! Maybe you’ll get something out of them!

  • Purpose

When starting a blog know what you want from it. If blogging is a way for you to vent and talk about things that interest you, you can be really laid back about it. On the other hand if you are hoping to someday make an income out of it you have to be a lot more focused and consistent.

  • Content

Your blog’s content must be something you are passionate about. Something you’ll feel proud about once you hit that little update button. Don’t try to write about something that you believe people will like. It won’t work out.

  • Photos

Ok you have the great content. Now what? Most people will NOT click on your post if a photo doesn’t accompany it. We are visual creatures. Always make sure your blog has some great pictures. If you’ll only keep one thing from what I’m saying  this is it!

  • Socializing

Even if you are the greatest blogger in the whole universe if people can’t physically see your blog they cannot engage. Make sure your blog is out there. Comment, like and socialize on social media. Don’t forget though to be yourself. See other people as meaningful connections not just as another follower.

  • Theme

Choose a theme that represents you and is easy to navigate. The technicalities of running a blog are definitely hard but with time things will be sorted out. No one started from the top!

  • Subscribe button

If people have to search for it they WONT click it. So make sure it has a pretty good spot on the layout of your blog.

  • Advice

Always listen to others. You might get something from them. When you read a successful blog don’t just look at it. See what they are talking about, how they are saying it and their layout. Everything should be a source of inspiration!

  • Followers

What I like to do is set a goal of new followers everyday. This should be adjusted to your blog’s needs. Mine right now is ten! Some days I get it and some I don’t but looking at my chart of follower goals helps me stay focused and inspired!

How to Slow Down with Rituals

I thought I would ask if you sometimes feel like things are moving too fast. But then I realized that we all live hectic lives. We all sometimes feel like things need to slow down. I’ve read a lot of tips on relaxation. Face masks and baths are pretty popular and although they are pretty relaxing they still involve effort. So from now on I decided to give myself time to do absolutely nothing. With a little bit of help.

First I close the blinds/lights and light up a candle. If you ask me the ambiance a candle creates is enough to totally change your mood. The Amber scented candle has an amazing deep flowery scent that is not overpowering. I like to take this time to reflect on all the good things I’ve been blessed with. I tend to take up much time dwelling on the bad stuff that I forget to acknowledge the good.

Another thing that I use when I feel overwhelmed is The ritual of Dao relaxing serum. I must admit I thought it wouldn’t do anything at first but it ended up being pretty helpful to my calmness. You just massage it in your temples, forehead and neck. Massaging these places in general can really relax you so this serum definitely gives you an incentive to do it more often. Also the Chinese peppermint and the Yi Yo ren it contains will have a cooling soothing effect that I really enjoy. (Plus thanks to its size you can throw it in your handbag and use it whenever you get feelings of anxiety.)

Last, I spray a little The ritual of Dao bed and body mist and go to sleep like a baby.

So what do you guys do when you want to relax? Let me know in the comments below.

Project Empties

I’m not the person to go crazy on the minimalistic lifestyle. I’m really envious of the people who can do that but I’m not one of them. That being said I would love to minimize my possessions and subsequently ways in a reasonable way. What I found the best and easiest ways to start is by using all of my products before I buy new ones. Even if I don’t love them I have challenged myself to use them up before going out and buying new ones. This way not only I save money but it is also an incentive to make smarter choices when buying products. I’ve started with my skincare products and hopefully my makeup.

Do you have any tips about how to reasonably minimize your belongings? Let me know in the comments below!

What’s in my college bag?

Hi everyone! I commute everyday to my college. It takes me an hour to get here and another one to go back. Needless to say I need a lot of things to get through the day but also I can’t be carrying a suitcase around. When I started college I saw those gorgeous girls walking gracefully around with beautiful handbags. My first thought was: I want to look like that. Unfortunately I soon realized that a handbag was not going to work for me and my poor arm. So I bought this really nice backpack!
I particularly love the color because it fits to every season perfectly! Unfortunately the particular color is not longer available but you can see the color selection Here.

Here’s what’s in my bag!

  • My notebook. Since I don’t take a crazy amount of notes I chose to get one notebook for all three of my classes to avoid the extra weight. I particularly like sewn notebooks instead of spirals since I am left handed.
  • My textbook. For most classes we thankfully have e-books so I don’t carry much weight but for this particular class it wasn’t available.
  • My agenda. I truly need it to keep all those horrific deadlines organized.

  • My pencil case

  • My “girl” bag.
  • A hairbrush

  • My wallet

  • My sunglasses.
  • And last but not least my contact lens solution. It sounds insane but I never leave the house without my contacts solution. If you wear lenses you probably know that they have a mind of their own and that they smell fear. So the solution is the only way to fix an accident without damaging your eyes.

What is the most important thing in your college/university/school bag? Let me know in the comments below!

Information Pollution and what you can do about it.

With the explosion of the Internet we have achieved so many great stuff but also have created many problems for ourselves. The amount of information we have to go through 24/7 is unbelievable. This is making it impossible for everyone to find what is truly important. So as we are becoming more conscious about our planet and our health I believe it’s important to start doing the same for the information we put out in the world. So what can we do about it?

Social Media Cleansing

If you go through my Instagram you will find not many posts. Granted I don’t post everyday but I still delete posts that I find are irrelevant or unhelpful. I do the same thing with my blog. This isn’t because I am embarrassed about past posts but because I want to create a platform easy to navigate that includes helpful information. Keep in mind this is not about quantity. There is no perfect number of posts. You can have 5 or 5.000 and that’s ok. Just make sure that you are proud for each and every one of those posts and that you want people to see them.

Go on a unfollow spree

Ok this sounds kind of mean but think about how much time you spend on social media. Do you really want to waste your time on things that don’t inspire you, don’t help you or even worse make you feel worse?

Don’t follow back

When someone follows you and shows interest in your content you should try checking out their content too. And if you find that it interests you go ahead and follow them back. But if not skip. I for once wouldn’t want someone to follow me because I followed them. I would much rather have people follow me because they genuinely like my content.

Be mindful

Think before you hit the post button. Don’t spam and always be confident in what you put out.

I hope I don’t offend anyone by this post and again this isn’t about numbers. You are the only person that decides what you want to post. I just hope that this post can raise some awareness about a problem that we don’t realize we are facing.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream- Review

The long awaited review is FINALLY here. I’ve been trying and testing this cream in the background and I’m now ready to share my thoughts.

I thoroughly enjoyed this cream. I use it as a night cream because during the day I prefer something with SPF which the ultra facial cream did not provide. Other than that it’s amazingly lightweight and it takes just a minute to dry. It does not dry immediately but other creams that dry within seconds didn’t really work for me. It smells nice and clean but the smell is not strong or overpowering. I personally hate putting strong smells on my face but the ultra facial cream is not one of them. Once it dries you do not smell it. Last it provides adequatemoisture without causing my mixed skin to get oily. All in all, it’s not a state of the art, never seen before product but it is a solid, basic skincare product that performs as it should in a very reasonable price.

What night creams would you suggest I try? Let me know in the comments below!

Holiday Glow! Filmstar Bronze & Glow by Charlotte Tilbury

What is it?
A powder sculpting and highlighting palette.

What does it do?

The sculpting side is great for contouring while the highlighting part is great for highlighting the face and even the eyes.

The packaging.

Charlotte Tilbury’s packaging is my cup of tea. There’s not one product that I didn’t love the packaging. It looks luxurious due to its beautiful gold color and also rocks a huge mirror!

The formula.

Both sides are extremely blendable. It is not intense but you can definitely build it up. It gives a really natural contour and highlight. Also the particular combination is perfect for fair skin. If you have trouble finding a contour palette for fair skin you should definitely check this one out! (I also like using the highlight for setting cream highlighters. It’s so natural it doesn’t look cakey)

Would I recommend it?

Yes! For someone who wants a natural highlight and contour or has a fair skin.

Do you prefer a natural or a bright highlight? Let me know in the comments below!

A Big Screw You to the Chuck Basses and Mr. Bigs of the World

Like many girls, I grew up rooting for Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big to end up together. Every time he turned her down, every time he fell for someone else I felt sad. And then here comes young Chuck. Doing whatever feels right for him. Stomping on Blair’s feelings. And again here comes little me hoping for what I thought was a happy ending. And I got it. They ended up together. But my definition of a happy ending has changed. Two strong, independent women being thrown around by guys afraid of commitment? Don’t get me wrong no one is perfect. Carrie and Blair made a fair share of mistakes. But they stood by their men. And for what? To keep them behind? Is that what we are teaching young women and men? To stick around a person that doesn’t respect them? That doesn’t consider them equals? That a romantic relationship is worth more than your sanity? It doesn’t feel right.

This my personal take on two really famous couples. Sorry for the rant…
